Primare PRE35 Prisma modular preamplifier and network player technology inside

Technology

PRE35 Prisma modular preamplifier is an exceptional system control center, providing umprecedented low noise and distortion free selection and transmission of any analog input, as a result of the carefully crafted fully balanced circuit design benefitting from the use of a four layer main board to achieve the shortest possible signal path.

In addition to comprehensive input and output options, featuring both XLR and RCA connection, the PRE35 Prisma includes includes both the sophisticated digital to analog converter module, DM35, as well as a Prisma network player module, SM35, to create an extraoridinarily versatile system control centre.

The DM35 is a full-featured digital to analog converter stage enabling up to PCM 768kHz/32bit and DSD 256 conversion.

With the DM35 module installed, PRE35 Prisma includes WiSA high resolution wireless speaker connectivity with WiSA enabled high performance powered loudspeakers, and is a feature unique to this high-performance preamplifier.

The look and feel of Scandinavia

We believe that every aspect of our products – the way they look, the satisfying feel of the controls – contributes to the overall experience of living with Primare. As a result, Primare products exude the hallmarks of Scandinavian design – simple, elegant designs, with approachable and easy to understand functionality.
An example of this is our signature control knob, known throughout the industry for both its appearance as well as how it feels in the hand as an input is selected or volume adjusted. – or as we say lagom, not too much not too little, everything in balance, proportion, and harmony.

Modular Design and System Building

We feel it is essential to offer modularity whenever possible in order to have just the right features, both now and for the future. Modular design is featured in the I25 and I35 modular integrated amplifiers, as well as the PRE35 modular preamplifier, all of which can be updated with DAC and Prisma modules, as well as the CD35 CD player that can have the Prisma module added, either at the time of purchase or at a later date. As a result, we are able to offer a carefully considered array of models and configurations in order to allow for device selection that best fits any system need. For example, a CD35 with Prisma module installed can be paired with an I35 integrated amplifier, allowing for a separation of analog and digital stages. Or, an I35 with DAC and Prisma modules installed can be paired with a DD35 CD transport, allowing for multi-room and multi-zone playback of every input, whether analog or digital source.

PRE35 Preamplifier and A35.2 Amplifier

In this video we review the features and functionality of both the A35.2 amplifier and the PRE35 modular preamplifier platform that may make them the perfect addition to your system.

About brand

Primare

During the early 1980’s, leading Danish industrial designer and passionate audiophile Bo Christensen set out to create a new kind of audio company. Frustrated by the sound quality, aesthetics, and user interface of typical audio gear, he created a team of designers, which included gifted engineer Bent Nielsen, to form a technology group named Primare Systems AB. Their corporate mission was, first and foremost, design components of exceptional sound quality. Secondly, the products must have an elegant appearance, precise proportions and a user-friendly interface. Additionally, it was decided to eschew the industry standard twelve-month product life cycle and instead develop “living products” that could easily evolve as technologies and methodologies changed. The potent combination of clean Scandinavian design, simple yet elegant circuitry, and straightforward operation created audio components of uncanny originality.

TIME LINE

1986: 928 Series
Introduced shortly after being founded in 1985, Primare’s first products, the 928 series, embodied a true “minimalist aesthetic” that was in stark contrast to the typical “button-cluttered” audio components of the day

1992: 200 Series
The somewhat more radical 200 Series was acclaimed for its innovative and groundbreaking industrial design. It included not only a preamplifier, mono amplifiers, a tuner, and CD player, but also a system remote, unique at the time for ultra-high-end designs.

1994: 300 Series
In 1994, before leaving Primare, Bo developed the 300 series. Primare was transformed with the advent of these products. Not only was Primare’s ongoing aesthetic idiom firmly established, but also the new design approach allowed Bent to better craft the circuitry within for improved performance.

1998: 30 Series

In 1993 Primare formed an association with another Swedish audio company Xena, known for the popular Scandinavian brands Copland and QLN. This partnership fused the design and business talents of Mr. Nielsen and Xena’s Lars Pedersen, setting a new course for Primare,  resulting in the 1998 introduction of the 30 series, the basis for all future designs.
